Who helps to make the library a community for all Legend students?

Did you know that Legend has a Student Library Advisory Council, better known as SLAC? They are a group of students that assist Mrs. Denman in planning events and activities in the library. They help to organize the reading contests, Battle of the Books, book grams, book giveaways, Live in the Library events, and various other service projects. These students represent the library at various school wide events as well, such as Safe Trick or Treat or Relay for Life.
“We were founded to improve the library and help other people as well as make it a place where people can feel comfortable,” junior Kaitlyn Daniels said.
They are the organizers of events that are provided for Legend students to advise, and they accept new members at the beginning of every year. There are about 14 members this year. They meet about every two weeks on Thursday morning within the recently remodeled back lab of the library. Participation in some of the SLAC-sponsored events is required.
“I love being a part of it, it gives me a lot of opportunities to improve and we host a bunch of fun events,” Daniels said.
If you love working in the library or participating in the events that they host, perhaps you should consider applying next year to be able help out Mrs. Denman and the rest of the SLAC team.
