The 8th installment of the critically acclaimed franchise, The Fast and The Furious.

“The Fate of the Furious” is a solid addition to the Fast and Furious franchise, meeting and surpassing the bar set by previous movies. The movie continues telling the story of Dom and his drag racing, law-breaking family.
The scene is set in Cuba, where Dominic Toretto( played by Vin Diesel) and Letty Ortiz (played by Michelle Rodriguez) are finally celebrating their honeymoon, which has been a subject of necessity derived through recent movies. Everything is going well that is until Dom is approached by an unknown woman, who we then find out is a criminal who goes by the codename Cipher (played by Charlize Theron), a criminal with leverage over Dom, leaving him no choice but to go rogue and do her illegal bidding.
Confused and betrayed, Dom’s team and unlikely allies, Ian Shaw (played by Jason Statham) and Shaw’s mother played by Helen Mirren, fight Cypher’s high tech terrorist attacks while Dom’s choices are challenged by faces of his past.
Despite the death and adversity throughout the movie, not to mention the fast cars and computer hackers, “The Fate of the Furious” came to the much appreciated and acclaimed ending with the family prayer and everyone sitting hand in hand around a table of food. This theme of family code and honor towards those we love and value is a key motive behind the undying love many of the fans, including myself, have for the franchise. It is more than a movie about cars, and racing, it is a movie about love, loss, family, and adversity.
The Fate of the Furious is promoted as “From Paul’. This is of course referring to the passing of co-star Paul Walker, who died during the making of the 7th movie, Furious 7, which was intern released as ‘For Paul’. The franchise, lead by their brilliant director, F. Gary Gray, managed the transition into a post Paul Walker era, given they let his character live happily with his onscreen wife Mia ( played by Jordana Brewster). Ultimately this paved the way to a new development in the trilogy opening up the opportunity for further success.
The movie was an overall hit that brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars, and is definitely worth seeing. If you are looking for a movie to not only see but feel the emotion and excitement, Fate of the Furious, is the movie for you!
