Finals week is for sure one of the most stressful times of the school year. Although studying for finals is a number one priority, it is extremely important to take the time to cope with your stress so you can succeed in taking your exams. There are many different ways to cope with your stress based off of your personality. On a scale of one to ten all of the students asked how stressful finals were said a number in the eight to ten range. Mrs. Davis, a freshman biology teacher, says that it is “very important that kids take the time to manage their stress.”
Physical: If you are the type of person who plays a lot of sports or does physical activity to get your mind off things here are some ideas for you. 43% of students surveyed said they coped with their stress through physical activity
- Going for a run/walk
- Weight lifting
- Going to a workout class
- Practicing a sport you enjoy
Social: If you are the type of person who enjoys dealing with your problems by talking to other people here are some ideas for you. 22% said they coped with their stress socially.
- Talking on the phone
- Studying at a coffee shop with friends
- Hanging with a family member
- Holding a group study session
Intellectual: If you are the type of person who is very organized and revolves around intelligence here are some ideas for you. 18% said they coped with their stress intellectually.
- Making a list or planner
- Watching a movie
- Reading a book
- Writing a poem
Spiritual: If you are the type of person who is one with your human spirit or finds comfort in practicing a religion here are some ideas for you. 13% of students said they coped with their stress spiritually.
- Going to church or temple
- Listening to spiritual or religious music
