Cross Country Runs to State

Legend students take on the state meet.

Two Legend High School students took on the cross country state meet at Cheyenne Mountain High School. Freshman Lucy Roberts finished her 5k with a time of 21:17, earning her a spot at 15th place in the 5A girls division. Junior Austin Podhajsky finished his 5k with a time of 18:13.

Both students did an outstanding job with their races, but it was definitely a tough course to run. “The hardest part about the race was the steep hill right in front of the stadium,” said Roberts. Coaches Mrs. Sandi Gregston and Mr. Robert Miller, along with a whole bunch of dedicated teammates were there supporting Roberts and Podhajsky. Some of the teammates even painted their stomachs to show support for the two runners.

“It makes me proud to see them get past the nerves and work their very hardest,” said Gregston. It was her first year coaching the Cross Country team, and she could not have enjoyed it more.
